"My Connection with Mission Headquarters" by Yuji Okui
For the past ten years, I have been living in Tokyo working at my current job, so when the 80th Anniversary of Mission Headquarters was held in 2014, I was unable to attend because I had just started my new life in Japan.
As I began to consider the possibility of attending the 90th Anniversary, I thought back to when I served at Mission Headquarters from 2008 to 2010, and how the experiences and lessons that I learned back then helped build the foundation of my work ethics and personal character that enabled me to choose my current career. In addition, I have been blessed with fortunate situations in my personal life, and therefore I felt that it was important for me to make the trip to Los Angeles to express my gratitude as a follower belonging to Mission Headquarters in America.
Although my trip was short, I was happy to have attended the anniversary activities and the commemorative service, and for the opportunity to participate in hinokishin together with the local followers, many of whom I have known for years. It was great spending time with my family members and relatives that live on the West Coast, and most of all, it was wonderful to catch up with all the members of the New York Center community. I look forward to seeing everyone again in Jiba for the 140th Anniversary of Oyasama!

"My First Visit to Dendocho" by Satsuki Sturgis
In June, I had the opportunity to pay my respects to America Dendocho (Mission Headquarters) for the first time. I was very excited to participate in the joint Fujinkai (Women’s Association) and Seinenkai (Young Men’s Association) Convention, which would be attended by Harue-okusama and Daisuke-sama, the world presidents of the respective associations. Two years ago, through my graphic designer hinokishin, I had the opportunity to be part of the Booklet Committee, a photo book celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Fujinkai. While going to America Dendocho, I had the opportunity to invite a Brazilian friend who lives in Seattle to participate in the activities. On Saturday, it was very rewarding to participate in the joint assembly and on Sunday, in the celebration of the 90th Anniversary of the founding of America Dendocho. Although it was my first time at Dendocho, I met up with many people I had met in Jiba, which was also very rewarding.

"A Wonderful Experience" by Satoko Lam
How quickly ten years have gone by! My experience at the 90th anniversary at LA Dendocho (Mission Headquarters) was a little different this time. I was able to attend with my husband and twin three-year-olds as well as with my parents, siblings and their spouses. It was the first time my children had an opportunity to be involved in a Tenrikyo activity. All of my life I have been heavily involved in church activities until I moved to Dallas 12 years ago. I have been so used to being part of the planning committee for events that participating purely as a participant was quite a different experience. I am so grateful to all of those who worked diligently to plan and organize this memorable event. I am especially grateful to the staff that organized such a wonderful experience for the children. I am even more determined now to make a greater effort to continue to participate in Tenrikyo activities so my children can learn about the teachings and build lifelong friendships. Seeing so many friends and family for the first time after many years apart filled my heart and I hope to see everyone again soon!
