Tenrikyo Mission New York Center was founded in 1976 as a branch of Tenrikyo Mission Headquarters in America and Canada. The purpose is to nurture Tenrikyo followers on the East Coast of the United States. The current Head Minister of the New York Center is Rev. Yoichi Fukui.

Tenri Cultural Institute (founded in 1991; Executive Director, Rev. Michael Yuge), located in Greenwich Village in Manhattan, is a division of New York Center. It serves as a Japanese language school, an art gallery and a concert hall.

Followers and non-followers alike are welcome to visit both facilities.
