“Otasuke (Salvation Work) — Let Us Begin From Offering Prayers.”

Reverend Kunihito Fumioka delivered an inspiring sermon during the Mission Headquarters’ November monthly service, reflecting on the significance of the “three years, one thousand days” activity period leading to Oyasama’s 140th Anniversary. Focusing on the concept of “Otasuke” or helping others be saved, he explored various meanings of the term in kanji characters. Drawing from personal experiences, Reverend Fumioka shared stories of reaching out to colleagues in need, emphasizing the power of prayer in providing comfort and healing. He encouraged viewers to take simple actions, such as sending a message or making a phone call, to connect with others and offer support. Reverend Fumioka highlighted the joy of bringing help to those around us, emphasizing that even small acts of kindness can be considered “Otasuke.” As the community approaches the 90th anniversary of Mission Headquarters in America, he called for collective efforts to grow spiritually and spread the teachings of Tenrikyo. The sermon concluded with a heartfelt reminder to start with prayer and extend a helping hand, expressing gratitude for the audience’s attention.
